THis is what love has become.

We can fuck now, fuck later,
love now, fall out of love later,
move on, hold on,
pretend we're strong enough to be alone,
seek solitude for satisfaction and stability as we protect ourselves from love,
run to anotehr country and try love there,
dump him or her, try him or her,
try to get back with him or her,
hate him or her,
fear that we'll look back in anger because we couldn't reconcile with him or her,
get a divorce because we miss being freelancing teenagers with limitless....choices,
settle on someone who is just there,
settle on someone who fucks well because thats important too,
settle on someone we can talk to then fuck someone else because fucking is important too,
ruin friendships because our friends' ex or assailant seems one of a kind,
miscategorize people because they seem one of a kind,
misinterpret the actions of someone because they're not like a past lover or our ideal lover,
and the list goes on
of what we can do
when faced with the idea
that we want to love.

The Paradox of Choice

Autonomy and Freedom of choice are critical to our well being, and choice is critical to freedom and autonomy. Nonetheless, though modern Americans have more choice than any group of people ever has before, and thus, presumably, more freedom and autonomy, we don't seem to be benefiting...from it psychologically.
