Superstitions of the Sky - Absolutely Nothing

I've resisted listening to these guys for too long. Interesting song compositions that aren't the standard folk-esque structures you'll hear. I believe these fellers were in Neil Perry, so that would likely explain why they're so fucking awesome. Could be wrong. NOnetheless, this is good music. Really easy going, honest music about heartbreak and the visibility of the past. Remnants, remnants, remnants. ALl we have. Let me cease now, before I begin to weep.

"Its so hard to look past those eyes, when its all I'm ever looking for." - Oh, those Eyes

Today's Moshpm brought on by speaking too fast and drawing falling stars into the background of an empty sky.

Enlightened by the storm that feeds the depression the play fell from our eyes build a confession laugh as the sky falls shadows within shadows you see it's not there remember the steep streets none were silent all were frayed I can't sleep in silence it's warm beneath the flames with my torn black sheet looking up to see the bottom too dark to see the gray flames in my hands my nightmares are in color build the towers to the skies I've died trying hide between the cinder blocks and loose gravel when did I become transparent fade in and out between the frequencies never asked to live forever hollow and unfair jump to see if you'll live the story has no ending it just finishes here released from reality and forced into dreams sleep well sleeper the liars wait for the morning then they'll come for you

More Fieldtree

AWesomesauce. I've spent at least around a year just hoping I would stumble upon this band's music or be able to find it on amazon or something. I still want a physical copy, but I'll settle with this. This is everything they've released, including the 7" I uploaded like months ago.

Enjoy this shit, I know I will.

Late Night Desperate

There isn't a whole lot to say here. I don't think there's any place to hear the music from these guys other than Purevolume and its only a few songs there. If you love the midpoints between hardcore and pop punk that really make emo its own little genre, this album should be right up your fuckign alley. Got some groovy tunes and a nice voice on the singer that makes it perfect for easy and therapeutic listening. This inculedes two demos, Picture Not So Perfect, and some track they had on a compilation or some ep. Check it.

Current

A lot of emo records I've gotten into focus, seemingly, on emotive outputs rather than lyricism or a unique diction. This isn't an insult to any songwriters in emo, I love the direct and bleak approach to the gloomy subject matter in emo, but every one in a while, you explore a genre and hear some band or artist who just fuckign sounds like they know exactly what they want to say and how to deliver the same emotions or more unfamiliar ones in a concise way. The band backing the man singing is also great, really heavy and soft as hell are what the songs are typically made of. There's hardly a middle ground, and there's no need for one.

Old school mo. The singer's got a weird voice, but I dig it. It keeps me from feeling like I'm listening to another silly little band complain about something I relate to, and thus, lets me feel cooler as I weep.

Classic emo. Really don't know what happened to this band, if anyone knows a band members are currently or went on to play in, pray tell.

Totally nothing to do with this:

Same band as Alex Dunham from Hoover. Really dope cd, only listened a few times, but I always play 'Chechero' a few times when It comes on.

Self titled ep from an emo/post-hardcore band I really dig.

Fugazi - Steady Diet of Uncooked Vegetables

Great album, I'm watching 'Instrument' as I type. Fucking love this band. From what I've heard, they're one of the primary influences of emo bands, and so is Rites of Spring, Guy Picciotto's band before Fugazi. Anyways, shits fucking great. Hope you enjoy.

Portraits of Past

Both in effort to bring more activity to this blog and help give more people great music, I'm gonna start uploading some shit. If any artists or person associated with any of the bands or musicians I post the music of, I pray you'd voice your opinion and I'll remove the music immediately.

These are the only two Portraits of Past pieces that I have, Cypress Dust Witch, their newest EP, and their self titled effort. They've had a number of older eps that came out a while ago as well as a cd with everything they released called Discography, but I don't have those. feel free to post a link if you have any.

Great screamo band though. Real music by those who feel what they're screaming and 'whining' about, as all artists should.

*********So I got an email about this shit, and because of that I am taking down the link, but the mediafire link still works, you should be able to find it by searching for 'Portraits of Past screamo mediafire'. Mediafire did take down the Cypress Dust Witch EP though, but thats like 4 songs and defnitely worth a purchase anyway, just as great as their album.

Real Emo Lyrics FTW

Death, prolonged by a return to infancy, has more patience than I. Reborn into a caustic world with a name that inspires nothing, pulling meaning from pieces, consumed by repetition and outmaneuvered by my consciousness, my life isn't a trial; it's an eternity.

But I'm just a child. All I have is time.

And time will save me, through this machine.
Time will enslave me through this machine.
Its movement is mine.
And as we fall gracefully upward through the hourglass, no comforting melody invites us.
How long can a voyage take in a vacuum without time?

What sounds to you like a big load of trashy old noise....

is in fact... the brilliant music of a genius... myself. And that music is so powerful, that it's quite beyond my control. And, ah... when I'm in the grips of it, I don't feel pleasure and I don't feel pain, either physically or emotionally. Do you understand what I'm talking about? Have you ever, have you ever felt like that? When you just, when you just, you couldn't feel anything, and you didn't want to either. You know, like that?
-Iggy Pop

The epitome of music lies in the artist's expression. Their getting of a feeling out. There are so many ways to falsify the expression, make it showy, make it pretentious, put too much into certain parts, or just plain old sound dumb. If nothing else, you have to respect metal musicians for the full on projectile approach they have to giving their all to a sound that was once in their head.

A Pro-emo post

I'm really only making this post because Emo gets such a bad rap due to all the pop punk bullshit that has became popular. I don't know the exact history of emo, but I do know it diverged from punk at some point and became what was known as emotive hardcore, more or less, which really only meant the lyrics were even more honest and endearing.Anyways, this song isn't bad at all. The drumming, the riffs and development, the lyrics, all that shit is on point and beautiful. I'd recommend anyone get this album if they're at least looking to hear someone just be honest in their music and say exactly what they feel with out sounding stupid.

Who Calls So Loud - Sleep-like

callous! i awake in this dream state.
everyday runs together.
i am a hallow shell.
colors and lights run together.
i don't feel. my only defense is sleep and the sleep-like.
this is beyond mediocrity, this is reality.
this is beyond apathy, this is giving up.
what hurts most is discovering all i believed
in and fastened myself too are illusions.
as the world distracts and decays.
the only portion of it i know distracts me
and i begin to decay.
distract and decay. the smell is overwhelming.
there is life off in the landscape.
i can see it through the distortion and blur.
my legs are now dead weight.
ill drag myself there if i have to.

Also gonna throw a Cap'n Jazz song in here because TIm Kinsella is a great lyricist and the band itself isn't half bad at all.

fire is motion. work is repetition.
this is my document. we are all all we've done.
we are all all we've done. we are all all defenses.
fire is motion. is motion growth?
and you are colder than oldness could ever be.
and you are bolder than buzzing bugs.
my mama said my cousin bucky's
so boldly bald cuz he never took his hat off.
he kept that cap on even when swimming.
i know there's a lesson in there somewhere something
nothing special 'bout boys who smell like salami
and boys who've never apologized.
and you are colder than oldness could ever be.
and you are bolder than buzzing bugs.

This last song is espeically great to me because its about accepting who you are and sincerely knowing just who it is that you are and not being ashamed of it. The song is of course in lament to the feeling of not accepting one's self, but that only makes it strike harder.
